Engage Impact Southern Sudan

Short-term teams serve Impact Southern Sudan 2-3 times every year in several important ways. Typically teams are made up of individuals who work under the direction of Sudanese leaders in a training/bible teaching capacity, on construction, serving at the orphanage, or developing income generating projects.

"While generally focused on serving in a practical hands-on way in one or more of the above areas, there are still opportunities to share your faith and to learn and be challenged by Sudanese nationals."
- Gord Skopnik, Impact Southern Sudan, Canadian Program Leader

Working alongside the Southern Sudan Evangelical Revival Movement (SERM), short-term teams may participate in a spiritual conference or crusade by teaching, sharing or preaching, leading Bible studies, or supporting youth or children's programs. In addition, teams may participate in a feeding program for widows and orphans.

In previous years, short-term teams have constructed buildings at St. Bartholomew's Orphanage, at the SERM conference centre, they have built a nursery school, and primary and secondary schools.

Short-term teams serve at St. Bartholomew's Orphanage, either by supporting children's programs held there such as a special 5-7 day club, helping children with their daily tasks and participating in Sunday services.

Teams also participate in helping Impact Southern Sudan to develop income generating projects such as helping with planting crops, constructing mango drying racks, or joining in the mango juice project. In addition, working with Enviro Stewards, Impact Southern Sudan trains nationals how to de-contaminate wells and how to build bio-sand water filters that purify water that is then bottled and sold.

How to Form a Short Term Team

International Teams Canada works with the local church to mobilize teams for service. Individuals interested in a short-term mission trip should encourage their church leadership to contact International Teams for more information. Teams may be led by experienced leaders from your church or by International Teams' Program Leaders. We provide cultural training to prepare teams and follow-up upon re-entry. We believe that it's not so much what YOU do, but what GOD does in you during your mission experience. To learn more contact canada@iteams.org.
