PULSE: Meet the Women Who Keep VOH Kids Fed!

We all know that growing children eat a lot! There are four women who serve as the cooks for the 338 children at the Village of Hope primary school: Mary Compore, Sidlawende, Pascaline, and Salamata. Together they ensure that the children and staff are fed well with nourishing food to support their learning and playing.

Our partners at CFPC Vocational Training School would like to hire a social worker to help other young women safely navigate the unfamiliar process of obtaining an education, in the face of strong opposition from their husbands or fathers. This sort of long-term investment in a community is simply not possible without Pulse.

What is Pulse? It’s a community of like-minded monthly donors who know that breaking the cycle of poverty for kids like Davis and Arnold does not take place over the short term. Imagine, children who not so long ago were living on the streets are now safe at home, receiving a quality education.

Near the end of June all the students took their government exams, a stressful week of in class exams and practical evaluation. We are pleased to announce that all of our students passed. Two of our woodworking students placed first and second in the whole district and one of our welding students took top place in the district!

On Saturday October 2, the Village of Hope compound began to burst with children's voices as the students arrived. After the summer holidays, we are grateful to be able to start our school year. The teachers, staff, and the new primary school director have worked hard to prepare for the students and we can't wait for what God has planned this year.

A Brighter Future for Post-Secondary Students in Ecuador

Post-secondary education has the power to break the cycle of poverty for students, their families, and entire communities. When iTeams Canada first began their partnership with Carmen Bajo Church in Ecuador, there were no post-secondary students in the community. Today, Impact Ecuador supports 13 post-secondary students in Carmen Bajo!
