If you and I have ever met in person, there’s a very good chance that I talked your ear off about our internship program. We call it The Forge, and it came about as a result of a conversation I had with an international development graduate who shared her frustrating, fruitless search for employment in that industry.
That was in 2013, and a year later we began offering a 6-month paid internship specifically designed for emerging Christian leaders who want to develop a robust work portfolio, integrate faith with vocation, and make a tangible, sustainable contribution to iTeams Canada’s transformational development programs. It’s a one-of-a-kind program and we’re really proud of it!
The internship usually includes a travel component, where interns visit one of our programs and spend a few weeks assessing the program, meeting with indigenous leaders, and helping plan for the future. Obviously, this isn’t possible right now, but the work hasn’t stopped. Our wheels are down, but we’re forging ahead (I’m so sorry, my team only allows me to make that joke once a year and this seemed like a good opportunity to use it). We’ve temporarily pivoted and I’m so happy to tell you that it is working extremely well. Abby, our 2020-2021 Forge intern, has had the opportunity to work with all twelve programs from a distance, rather than just one up close.
This has been such an unexpected blessing, not just for Abby, but also for our program leaders, volunteer program champions, office staff, and the beneficiaries of our programs. You’ll hear from Abby herself next week, but I’m here today to ask for your support as we raise funds to cover the costs of next year’s Forge internship.
Every dollar you give before March 31 will be matched. The investment you make in young Christian leaders will be doubled! Imagine the impact you could have around the globe. We truly can’t do this without you and we’re so grateful for your support.
Please give generously! https://www.iteams.ca/campaign/the-forge
Forging ahead together,
CEO, iTeams Canada
