It’s International Development Week! #IDW2022 aims to inform, inspire and involve Canadians in Canada’s development efforts. The unifying message of “#GofortheGoals” represents a call to action for Canadians to support the achievement of the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).
I’m excited to share that we have opened applications for the 2022 cohort of The Forge, our 6-month paid internship for recent graduates of International Development Studies, Global Studies, or related areas of education or expertise.
Forge interns are emerging Christian leaders who want to put their skills to practical use and take the next step in their careers. They also share a strong commitment to seeing communities around the world grow into fullness of life characterized by dignity, hope, justice, and peace.
The Forge offers the opportunity to develop a robust work portfolio, integrate faith with vocation, and make a tangible, sustainable contribution to International Teams Canada’s transformational development programs. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, there may be an opportunity for travel to one of our Impact Programs to meet with local program leaders.
Sheila Brewster, a Forge 2018 intern and current Program Support Coordinator for iTeams Canada, shared this about her experience with the internship:
“I could say so many different things about how The Forge changed my life — it afforded me opportunities to get face-time with internationally respected theologians, practitioners, and photographers. It challenged me to understand how God’s love for His people and His desire to see them restored should shape my work in international development (try learning that outside a Christian Development environment!). It equipped me to test my textbook knowledge out of the classroom, and gave me opportunities to taste so many facets of what it takes to make a career out of development work. And, of course, it sent me halfway around the world to live and learn with our Ugandan partners in Jinja, Uganda.”
Does this sound like you or someone you know? We’re accepting applications until March 11, 2022. The internship will start in May 2022. More information about the program and a link to apply is available on our website.
