Poverty Issues

Ecuador, straddling South America's Andean region, boasts diverse ecosystems and indigenous cultures. Despite its natural beauty, communities confront issues like unequal access to education and healthcare. Around 33% of the population experiences poverty, necessitating targeted initiatives for social and economic inclusion.

How We Help

In Ecuador, our partnership with Carmen Bajo Church focuses on uplifting communities through a holistic approach that addresses education, food security, vocational opportunities, and spiritual growth. By empowering individuals and families, these initiatives foster sustainable development and help break the cycle of poverty, bringing lasting hope and transformation to communities in need.

Nourishing Minds and Bodies

The Quito Kids Meals and Tutoring Program is a cornerstone of our work in Ecuador, providing hundreds of children with nutritious meals and essential academic support. By addressing both physical and educational needs, this initiative promotes a sense of belonging, encourages learning, and helps children thrive in a supportive environment that nurtures their potential.

Scholarships and Community Engagement for Empowerment

Carmen Bajo Church also supports 15 scholarship students, enabling them to pursue higher education and open doors to brighter futures despite financial barriers. In addition, community outreach events strengthen neighborhoods by fostering unity, resource sharing, and empowerment. Complementing these efforts is a cross-cultural exchange program with Guatemala, providing Ecuadorian youth with opportunities to volunteer internationally, broaden their perspectives, and contribute meaningfully to communities beyond their own.

Impact Story

In 2021, 7-year-old Rodolfo and his parents fell ill with Covid-19, leading to Rodolfo’s hospitalization. In the midst of this crisis, the family turned to their church community for support. The congregation responded with prayers, emotional encouragement, and essential food deliveries, fostering a strong sense of unity. The church’s unwavering love deeply touched Rodolfo’s mother, inspiring her to explore the teachings of Jesus more closely.

Despite the challenges brought on by the virus, the steadfast support from the Carmen Bajo church community helped the family rebuild their lives. Rodolfo’s full recovery marked the beginning of a transformative journey for the family, now rooted in strengthened faith and deeper community connections. Their story is a testament to the extraordinary power of community compassion, highlighting how the kindness and solidarity of their neighbors continue to guide them toward a future of hope, unity, and lasting resilience.
